Tony Awards Meet the 2025 Tony Award Nominees in These Exclusive Portraits

°ëµºÌåÓý had a photo booth at the annual Meet the Nominees event, and we made the most of it.

This year, Broadway’s biggest night is June 8—the evening of the 78th Annual Tony Awards held at Radio City Music Hall. But before that evening, the nominees gathered May 8 at the Sofitel hotel to introduce themselves officially as Tony nominees, get their official nominee pins, and stop by the °ëµºÌåÓý photo booth (presented in partnership with the Tony Awards).

There were many notable firsts in this year’s cohort: Audra McDonald made Tonys history (again)—she was previously the most-lauded performer in Broadway history with six Tony wins. Now with her 11th nomination for Gypsy for Lead Actress in a Musical, McDonald is the most Tony-nominated performer of all time.

In other history-making moments, Cole Escola is the first non-binary artist to receive nominations for Best Play and Lead Actor in a Play (for Oh, Mary!), Daniel Dae Kim is the first Asian-American actor to be nominated for Lead Actor in a Play (for Yellow Face), Sanaz Toossi is the first Iranian-American playwright to be nominated for Best Play (for English), and Marjan Neshat and Tala Ashe are the first Middle Eastern nominees in their category, Featured Actress in a Play (both for English).

And, of course, there was the MVP of the event: HwaBoon, of the 10-time Tony-nominated musical Maybe Happy Ending, who (despite not being a nominee) made an appearance. It's okay HwaBoon, you're the Tony winner of our hearts.

Congratulations to these artists and the many others nominated for a 2025 Tony Award. See them smolder in front of photographer Heather Gershonowitz's °ëµºÌåÓý camera in the gallery below.

Winners will be named at The 78th Annual Tony Awards, set to broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall June 8, beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. Wicked film star and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo will host the evening.
