Other Honorary Oscar recipients at the Academy鈥檚 8th Annual Governors Awards included film editor Anne V. Coates, action film icon Jackie Chan, and documentarian Frederick Wiseman.
At the ceremony, Actors Branch Governor Laura Dern discussed how Stalmaster hired her from her first audition at the age of nine, calling the casting director 鈥渁 champion鈥� for a girl who could grow into a woman finding her own voice.鈥� Bruce Dern added, 鈥淓very movie that was ever made was made with a casting director鈥� he dared us to go out on the edge and take parts no other people would take.鈥�
