Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story, according to press notes, is "based on the all too short life and career of Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly created the sounds and styles that defined American rock 'n roll." Songs include 鈥淭hat鈥檒l Be The Day,鈥� 鈥淲hy Do Fools Fall in Love?,鈥� 鈥淧eggy Sue鈥� and 鈥淛ohnny B. Goode.鈥� The musical opened in London鈥檚 West End, where it ran for over 12 years. It premiered on Broadway in 1990.
The Muny production also has scenic design by Robert Mark Morgan with costume design by Tracy Christensen, lighting design by Nathan W. Scheuer, sound design by John Shivers and Hugh Sweeney and video design by Matthew Young. Wig design is by John Metzner, and the production stage manager is Nevin Hedley.
