Elaine Paige, the Olivier Award-winning British musical theatre star who has appeared on New York stages in Sunset Boulevard, Sweeney Todd, and Follies, has been named a Dame in King Charles III's Birthday Honours List for 2025.
Among others honored in the King's list are The Who's Roger Daltrey, the National Theatre's Rufus Norris, actor Gary Oldman, and former soccer player David Beckham. The honors are awarded bi-annually to honor a mix of celebrities, public figures, and other citizens for their contributions to British life.
Paige, previously an OBE, marked 60 years in the entertainment industry in 2024. The official release for the annual list states that for more than 40 years the stage favorite has "supported a range of U.K. charities and arts educational establishments promoting access to sport for those with disabilities and mental health issues and encouraging young students pursuing careers in the performing arts."
About the honor, Paige told , "I鈥檝e got all these different emotions coming at me all at once. I鈥檓 proud and I feel grateful and I鈥檓 thrilled and surprised, and so it鈥檚 been quite a lot to take in.鈥�
