Newly released production shots offer a first look at Atlantic Theater Company's world premiere of Abby Rosebrock's Lowcountry, playing the Off-Broadway company's Linda Gross Theater through July 13. Opening night is June 25, with Jo Bonney directing.
The production is part of the company's season that was initially canceled and later rescheduled following a breakdown in negotiations over contracts for backstage workers. That negotiation ended up seeing the backstage workers striking as part of their work to get their first union contract via IATSE, part of a growing Off-Broadway unionization trend.
Lowcountry stars Ted Lasso's Jodi Balfour as Tally, an under-employed actor who returns to her rural hometown and finds herself romantically linked to a high school teacher with a record. The cast also features Keith Kupferer as Paul and Babak Tafti as David. Casting is by The Telsey Office's Karyn Casl.
The production also features scenic design by Arnulfo Maldonado, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Heather Gilbert, sound design by John Gromada, fight choreography by Thomas Schall, and production stage management by Katie Ailinger.
