Here she is, world! Tony-nominated Memphis and Into the Woods star Montego Glover will play a limited, one-week engagement in Broadway's Gypsy, portraying Rose while regular star Audra McDonald is out for a pre-planned vacation. Glover's run will be June 30-July 6 at the Majestic Theatre, with tickets already on sale.
Glover made her Broadway debut in 2006 in the original production of The Color Purple, making her biggest mark (and earning a Tony nomination) creating the role of Felicia in 2010 Best Musical Tony winner Memphis in 2009. Since then, she's appeared on the Main Stem in It Shoulda Been You, Les Mis茅rables, and Into the Woods.
Directed by George C. Wolfe, Broadway's latest Gypsy revival opened at the Majestic Theatre December 19, 2024, where it continues. Tickets are currently on sale through October 5. With her 11th Tony nomination, McDonald is currently making history as the most Tony-nominated performer of all time (along with her previous record of being the most Tony-awarded performer in Tony history, with six).
Along with McDonald as Rose and fellow 2025 Tony nominees Danny Burstein as Herbie and Joy Woods as Louise, the cast is led by Jordan Tyson as June, Kevin Csolak as Tulsa, Lesli Margherita as Tessie Tura, Lili Thomas as Miss Mazeppa, Mylinda Hull as Miss Electra, Jacob Ming-Trent as Uncle Jocko, Kyleigh Denae Vickers as Baby Louise, and Marley Lianne Gomes and Jade Smith as Baby June. Tryphena Wade is the standby for Rose.

The revival is up for five 2025 Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Musical. Winners will be named June 8 at Radio City Music Hall, in a ceremony hosted by Cynthia Erivo and broadcast live on CBS and streaming via Paramount+.
Gypsy, based on the mostly fictional memoir of famed burlesque performer Gypsy Rose Lee, features a book by Arthur Laurents and songs with music by Jule Styne and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. The show is one of Broadway's favorites to revive. Since premiering in 1959, the show has returned to Broadway in 1974, starring Angela Lansbury; 1989, starring Tyne Daly; 2003, starring Bernadette Peters; and 2008, starring Patti LuPone. The work has been filmed three times: a 1962 feature film starring Rosalind Russell, a 1993 TV film starring Bette Midler, and a filmed stage performance of a 2015 London revival starring Imelda Staunton.
