Springsteen on Broadway, an intimate solo concert from 20-time Grammy Award-winning rock legend Bruce Springsteen, ends its year-long Broadway run December 15. Springsteen was honored with a Special Tony Award for his unprecedented, sold-out run, which opened in October 2017 at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
Originally billed as an eight-week, limited engagement, the show extended its sold out run three times.
Built around Springsteen's 2016 memoir Born to Run, the show is billed as a solo show but frequently features a guest appearance by Springsteen's wife and fellow musician Patti Scialfa.
Springsteen on Broadway was filmed live at the Walter Kerr Theatre and will premiere on Netflix December 16. A live album was released December 14.
鈥淭he purpose of the film is to bring this incredibly intimate show to Bruce鈥檚 entire audience intact and complete,鈥 said Jon Landau, manager to Springsteen, in a statement. 鈥淚n addition to its many other virtues, Netflix has provided for a simultaneous worldwide release which is particularly important for our massive international audience. Ted Sarandos and the entire company鈥檚 support has been a perfect match for Bruce鈥檚 personal commitment to the filmed version of Springsteen on Broadway.鈥
