Cabaret & Concert News The Notebook's Dorian Harewood Will Celebrate Nat King Cole in Upcoming Concert

The stage and screen star will be joined by musical director Randy Waldman.

Dorian Harewood, most recently on Broadway in a Tony-nominated performance in The Notebook, will go it solo July 9 at 7:30 PM at Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill & Jazz in Los Angeles.

Harewood will pay tribute to musical trailblazer Nat King Cole with several of the latter's hits, including "Unforgettable," "When I Fall in Love," "Route 66," "Just One of Those Things," "Mona Lisa," and "I'm Going to Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter."

The stage and screen star will be accompanied by Grammy-winning musical director, arranger, composer, and conductor Randy Waldman.

"Sixty years ago, this year, the world said goodbye to one of the most beloved recording artists of all time. A consummate vocalist and genius pianist, there has been none like him before or since. Not even close. Tonight, we pay tribute to that glorious artist, and all that he did to help enlighten the world," said Harewood in a statement.

Harewood has also been seen on Broadway in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Don't Call Back, Streamers, and The Mighty Gents. An NAACP Image Award winner for his work as Clarence "Cool Papa" Charleston in the NBC series I'll Fly Away as well as an Emmy nominee for Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream, the Ohio native's numerous screen credits also include Roots: The Next Generation, Strike Force, The Jesse Owens Story, Full Metal Jacket, Against All Odds, Sudden Death,12 Angry Men, Viper, The Hoop Life, Private Practice, Boomtown, Las Vegas, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Criminal Minds, 9-1-1, Big Sky, and Bel-Air.
