Beginning in 1927, Duke Ellington and his musicians formed the Cotton Club鈥檚 resident band, and frequent radio broadcasts brought the Duke鈥檚 brand of jazz into American homes. Here, the Duke is seated at the piano, surrounded by members of his orchestra.
