London News Brian Conley Will Join West End Cast of Back to the Future Musical

The hit musical, based on the film of the same name, continues at London's Adelphi.

Stage and screen star Brian Conley will join the London company of Back to the Future The Musical this summer for a limited engagement at the Adelphi Theatre.

Conley鈥擮livier-nominated for playing the title role in Jolson鈥攚ill step into the part of Doctor Emmett Brown August 13-November 3.

Conley, also seen in the West End in 9 to 5 The Musical, Hairspray, Me and My Girl, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, said in a statement, 鈥淕reat Scott! I'm absolutely thrilled to be stepping into the DeLorean as Doc Brown鈥攊t鈥檚 a gift of a part in such an iconic musical. It鈥檚 pure, high-voltage fun, and I can't wait to bring my own spark to the mad genius!鈥�

Cory English, who currently plays Doctor Emmett Brown, will return to the role beginning November 5.

The production currently stars Caden Brauch as Marty McFly, English as Doctor Emmett Brown, Sarah Goggin as Lorraine Baines, Orlando Gibbs as George McFly, C.J. Borger as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry, Alex Runicles as Biff Tannen, Talia Palamathanan as Jennifer Parker, Lee Ormsby as Strickland and alternate Doctor Emmett Brown, Liam McHugh as Dave McFly, Patricia Wilkins as Linda McFly, and Ellis Kirk as alternate Marty McFly. 

The company is completed by Kofi Aidoo-Appiah, Billie Bowman, Ella Beaumont, Gracie Caine, Charlotte Coggin, Lauren Dawes, Alexander Day, Helen Gulston, Matthew Ives, Connor Lewis, Adam Margilewski, Bryan Mottram, Anna Murray, Samuel Nicholas, Louis Quinn, Zachkiel Smith, and Grace Swaby-Moore.


Based on the Universal Pictures/Amblin Entertainment film, the musical, which opened in London September 13, 2021, has a book by Bob Gale and new music and lyrics by Emmy and Grammy winner Alan Silvestri and six-time Grammy winner Glen Ballard, with additional songs from the film, including "The Power of Love" and "Johnny B. Goode."

The production is directed by Tony winner John Rando with set and costume design by Tim Hatley, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, lighting consulting by Hugh Vanstone, sound design by Gareth Owen, video design by Finn Ross, choreography by Chris Bailey, musical supervision and arrangements by Nick Finlow, illusions by Chris Fisher, orchestrations by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, and dance arrangements by David Chase. Casting is by David Grindrod Associates.

The Broadway production of Back to the Future ended its run at the Winter Garden January 5, 2025. A North American tour continues.
