In a statement on the campaign page, composer Friedman writes, "All the past Nancy CDs have been financed out of my own pocket. When I do that, it takes me over 2 years to do each one (because I have to keep working at other things to pay for them) and when they're done I haven't got enough budget left to properly publicize them. So I've decided to bring Nancy LaMott into the Indiegogo world. With your help, we will be able to produce and properly promote a CD that will stand the test of time as a classic among the greats."
A minimum of $50,000 is needed for the project. Several perks and gifts are available for donors at different levels. Donors at the top level, $15,000, will receive a customized song penned by Friedman and David Zippel.
Songs on the new recording, all featuring lyrics by Tony winner Zippel, will include "You Can Always Count on Me" (from ), "Lost and Found" (also from City of Angels), "Loud Is Good," "Slide Trombone," "Until You Let Go" (the original theme song Zippel and wrote for the movie "Frankie & Johnny"), "How Can I Win?" (from ) and more.
Nancy LaMott was beloved by fans for a voice that could be soft and sweet one minute and big and belty the next.
