Music heard in Broadway鈥檚 The Testament of Mary, which, in 2013, saw Fiona Shaw as the mother of Jesus Christ, will be featured on the upcoming album Testament. The recording, out January 25, 2019, from Heresy Records, will include Mel Mercier鈥檚 compositions for the Deborah Warner-helmed staging, as well as cuts from the National Theatre鈥檚 The Powerbook, the Royal Court鈥檚 Fewer Emergencies, and more.

Mercier earned a Tony nomination in 2013 for his sound design for the solo show. His additional credits include the Old Vic鈥檚 Glenda Jackson-led King Lear, Rime of the Ancient Mariner, and The Shadow of a Gunman at Dublin鈥檚 Abbey Theatre.

鈥淭he tracks on Testament satisfy my long-held desire to find a way to document some of my theatre music,鈥 says Mercier. 鈥淩ecomposing and remixing from the pre-existing theatre soundscapes liberates the sounds from the original productions and gives them a second, new life, solely as a listening experience, as music alone.鈥
