Connecticut鈥檚 Hartford Stage has announced its 2016-17 season. The new slate will feature the world premiere of Queens For a Year, by Army Wives writer T.D. Mitchell; productions of August Wilson鈥檚 The Piano Lesson and Shakespeare鈥檚 The Comedy of Errors; and James Lecesne鈥檚 acclaimed solo show, The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey.

The season will kick off in September with Queens For a Year, about four generations of women who have served in the Marine Corps. What looks to be a post-deployment vacation for one of them turns out to be much more. 鈥淭his is one of the most exciting new plays I've read in a long time. It's entertaining, gripping, and all too timely,鈥 said Elizabeth Williamson, associate artistic director, in a press statement.

The production will be followed by the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Piano Lesson, directed by Jade King Carroll; and in the new year, The Comedy of Errors, helmed by artistic director Darko Tresnjak.

The Absolute Brightness of Leonard Pelkey, which played an acclaimed run Off-Broadway, is currently set to conclude the season. The monologue play is about the disappearance of a teenage boy in a small New Jersey town.

Two additional plays will be announced at a later date. Subscription packages are available by calling (860) 527-5151 or visiting
