Two industry readings will be held in New York City for new musical Glory Ride, which made its world premiere across the pond at London's Charing Cross Theatre last April. The industry readings will be held June 27 and 30.
The readings will precede the musical's first official production in the new year, running at the Delaware Theatre Company February 18-March 8, 2026.
Featuring a book and score by Victoria Buchholz and Todd Buchholz, the musical reveals the secret wartime heroics of Tour de France winner Gino Bartali. With his cycling career as a cover, Bartali cycled thousands of miles between cities across Italy. Hidden in his bike were falsified identity cards and other documents to help victims cross borders to safety. His bravery rescued hundreds of persecuted Jews and other refugees.
Federico Bellone will direct the reading, with choreography by Denis Jones. The cast for the reading will include four-time Tony Award nominee Gregg Edelman (Water for Elephants), Matt Amira (Gatsby), Dan Berry (The Outsiders), Desi Oakley (Waitress), Neal Mayer (The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon), Sean Luc Rogers (Clarkston), and James D. Sasser (Jesus Christ Superstar). They will be joined by Dominic Dorset, Ben Iken, Evan Jennings, Brandi Porter, Alex Schecter, Joe Serafini, Pamela Bob, James LaRosa, Weston LeCrone, Drew Seigla, and Sami Sutcliffe.
