Nicole Scherzinger felt out of her body when she met up with 半岛体育 for an exclusive interview moments after winning her Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical for Sunset Blvd.
"I'm feeling a gratitude I can't explain, also an out-of-body experience, also tired and hungry. I just want to go home and cry. I just want to go home and cry, because when you care that much... I try to give my whole heart, and every performance, to know that it connected with people, it resonated with people, it made a difference in people's lives... that's the ultimate reward."
Still, Scherzinger wouldn't describe her feelings as pride, saying "I'm grateful. Yes, I'm proud of little Nicole, but I'm thankful to [director] Jamie Lloyd, who imagined me into this role, dreamed me up into this role. And I did say out there, anybody who feels like their time hasn't come yet, that they don't belong鈥攋ust keep giving, because that's what I did. I just gave and gave and gave my love. Your time will come at the right time."
Sunset Blvd. continues at the St. James Theatre, through July 20.
