Second Stage Theater's New York premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies Lunar Eclipse, which began performances May 14 at The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center, officially opened June 3, and the reviews are rolling in. The show will run through June 22.
Directed by Drama League Award winner Kate Whoriskey (Clyde’s, Sweat), the production stars Tony winner Reed Birney (Mass, The Humans) and Drama Desk nominee Lisa Emery (Ozark, A Kind of Alaska).
The play, which deals with the fragility of memory, centers on a long-married couple on a hot summer night, sipping bourbon and reminiscing at they wait for a lunar eclipse to appear over their Kentucky farm. As the seven stages of the celestial phenomenon unfold, secrets are revealed as the couple realize that, many years down the line, they are still a mystery to each other.
