Real Women Have Curves will close on Broadway June 29, following 31 previews and 73 regular performances. The musical officially opened April 27 at the James Earl Jones Theatre. Read the reviews here.

The work has struggled at the box office its entire run, and failed to receive a Best Musical nomination at this year's Tony Awards. Despite that shut out, the musical performed at the ceremony, likely thanks to Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez's Tony-nominated score. Justina Machado was also nominated for her featured performance.

鈥淲e have been working on developing this show for the last five years and could have never predicted that when it made its way to Broadway it would be timelier than ever,鈥 said producers Barry Weissler and Jack Noseworthy in a statement. 鈥淏ringing this joyful immigrant story that explores the American Dream to the stage has been an honor and a responsibility that we don鈥檛 take lightly, especially in today鈥檚 political climate. We are grateful to our company and audiences who made it all possible, and especially applaud our cast鈥檚 courage, vulnerability, and authenticity in telling this story each night. Though our run on Broadway is coming to an end, we are very much looking forward to the future life of Real Women Have Curves and continuing to bring this important story to new audiences.鈥

An original Broadway cast recording was released June 6 from Ghostlight Records and is available to stream on all platforms.

The project is helmed by Sergio Trujillo, who directs and choreographs. With a score by Joy Huerta and Benjamin Velez and a book by Lisa Loomer with Nell Benjamin, the work follows a first-generation child of Mexican immigrants, Ana (Tatianna C贸rdoba), who is torn between joining the family garment business or embarking on her own dream.

Machado plays Carmen Garcia, Ana鈥檚 hardworking mother who imagines a traditional life for her daughter. C贸rdoba and Machado are supported by Florencia Cuenca as Estela, Ana's older sister, and Shelby Acosta as Prima Flaca, Carla Jimenez as Pancha, Aline Mayagoitia as Itzel, Mason Reeves (Frozen) as Henry, Jennifer S谩nchez as Rosal铆, Sandra Valls as Prima Fulvia, and Mauricio Mendoza as Ra煤l Garcia. Cuenca, Jimenez, Mayagoitia, Reeves, and Valls are all making their Broadway debuts in the production, and all but Mayagoitia are reprising their performances from the musical's 2024 world premiere.
