The RSC鈥檚 acclaimed production of Titus Andronicus, directed by Max Webster, will transfer to London's Hampstead Theatre this fall.

Olivier and Tony winner Simon Russell Beale will reprise his work in the title role. Performances are scheduled for September 5-October 11.

Also returning to the production will be Emma Fielding as Marcia Andronicus and Wendy Kweh as Tamora, joined by Danny Collins as Martius/Messenger, Thomas Josling as Bassianus/Publius, Joel MacCormack as Lucius, Jerone Marsh-Reid as Alarbus/Leader of the Goths, and Sharita Oomeer as Nurse/Goth. Additional casting will be announced at a later date.

Webster鈥檚 production of William Shakespeare鈥檚 bloodiest play is examined through the lens of 21st century aggression. When victorious general Andronicus executes his enemy鈥檚 son in a merciless show of vengeance, he has no idea of the evil his actions will incite.

The production marks Beale鈥檚 return to Hampstead Theatre after his appearances in the sell-out productions of Tom Stoppard鈥檚 The Invention of Love and Mr. Foote鈥檚 Other Leg.

RSC Co-Artistic Directors Tamara Harvey and Daniel Evans said in a joint statement, 鈥淲e are absolutely thrilled that Max Webster鈥檚 powerful production of Titus Andronicus will transfer to London following its acclaimed run in The Swan Theatre earlier this year. We are particularly delighted that Hampstead Theatre and London audiences will have the opportunity to welcome back Sir Simon Russell Beale, magnificent in the eponymous role. As one of Shakespeare鈥檚 first and bloodiest plays, Titus Andronicus continues to compel and horrify us in equal measure with its audacious blend of brutality, gallows humor, and hot-blooded intensity. In Max Webster鈥檚 production, we see Shakespeare鈥檚 study of state-sponsored violence and inter-generational retribution bought sharply and tragically into focus for our times. We look forward to sharing its visceral power with London audiences.鈥

The creative team also includes set and costume designer Joanna Scotcher, lighting designer Lee Curan, composer Matthew Herbert, sound designer Tingying Dong, movement director Jade Hackett, fight and intimacy directors Rachel Bown-Williams and Ruth Cooper-Brown, and casting director Matthew Dewsbury. The revival director is Kwame Owusu.
