The original Off-Broadway cast and orchestra of MCC Theater's The Connector reunited for a one-night-only benefit concert of the Jason Robert Brown-Jonathan Marc Sherman musical June 16 at Webster Hall. The performance benefited the Committee to Protect Journalists. See photos from the evening below.

The show鈥攚hich features a book by Sherman and a score by Brown鈥攑remiered at the Off-Broadway company last year, playing a twice-extended run at MCC's Newman Mills Theater that opened February 6, 2024. Conceived and directed by Brown's longtime collaborator Daisy Prince, The Connector follows two young journalists in the late 1990s, pitting ambition against values in the race for the ultimate scoop.

The complete original cast was back to perform the show once again, led by Scott Bakula, Hannah Cruz, Ben Levi Ross, and Jessica Molaskey; along with Joanna Carpenter, Max Mendoza Crumm, George Dvorsky, Mylinda Hull, Daniel Jenkins, Marissa Medina, Fergie Philippe, Eliseo Rom谩n, Ann Sanders, and Michael Winther.

Also back was the original orchestra, led by songwriter Brown at the piano, and also including Randy Landau, Todd Reynolds, Hidayat Honari, Adam Kaufman, and Jamie Eblen.

The 2024 production received seven Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, including for Best New Off-Broadway musical; two Lucille Lortel Award nominations; and eight Drama Desk Award nominations, including Outstanding Musical.
