The musical, which stars Tony Award winner Jessie Mueller (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical) and has a score by five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter Sara Bareilles, boasts an all-female creative team.
The show opens having already been nominated as Best Musical of 2015 by the Outer Critics Circle and the Drama League. The show also already has a cast album in the works, scheduled for digital release June 10.
Following a sold-out limited engagement at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, MA, Waitress began Broadway previews March 25.

Waitress , according to press notes, 鈥漷ells the story of Jenna, a waitress and expert pie maker in a small town, who dreams of a way out of her loveless marriage. A baking contest in a nearby county and the town鈥檚 new doctor may offer her a chance at a new life, while her fellow waitresses offer their own recipes to happiness. But Jenna must find the courage and strength within herself to rebuild her life. This new American musical celebrates friendship, motherhood, and the magic of a well-made pie.鈥�
