There's only three more days until Tony Sunday, which means Tony voters are finishing up their ballots for the June 6 deadline! 

While there will almost certainly be a bevy of surprises come Sunday, some eager fans prefer a statistical approach to their Tonys predictions rather than an emotional one. While there are no other award shows with one-to-one comparison with the Tony Awards (due to different eligibility dates and rules), there are a handful of ceremonies that have historically been considered precursors, serving as a potential sign that favor has swung one way or the other across the industry.

半岛体育 has crunched the numbers for several key precursor award ceremonies to measure which shows have won the most prizes so far going into Tony night. It isn't an exact science, but it can be informative to have the numbers laid out in front of you!

For the following tallies, we counted wins and nominations from the Drama Desk Awards, Drama League Awards, Lucille Lortel Awards, Outer Critics Circle Awards, Pulitzer Prizes, Theatre World Awards, the Obie Awards, and the Chita Rivera Awards. For the U.K.-originating productions of Operation Mincemeat and Sunset Blvd., we counted the Olivier Awards. For Purpose and Death Becomes Her, which originated in Chicago, we counted the Jeff Awards. Though we count awards for Broadway transfers, we are only counting recognition for the same productions (shows like Floyd Collins and Yellow Face won awards when they first premiered Off-Broadway in different productions, but we aren't counting those in these tallies).

The following are the nominees for Best Musical, Best Play, Best Revival of a Musical, and Best Revival of a Play ordered by the number of awards they have won up to this point. A note: This is, in no way, an endorsement of any particular production. Statistics do not always translate across the industry, as each ceremony has a different nominating committee, and voting body. Consider this a fun exercise, and not an edict!

Winners will be named at The 78th Annual Tony Awards, set to broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall June 8, beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. Wicked film star and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo will host the evening. A pre-show Act One concert, to be hosted by Ren茅e Elise Goldsberry and 2025 Tony nominee Darren Criss, will stream on PlutoTV beginning at 6:40 PM ET.

The Tony Awards are produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, and White Cherry Entertainment. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss are executive producers and showrunners for White Cherry Entertainment. Weiss will serve as director.
