Massachusetts' Cape Playhouse has found its glorious rock star! The venue, which will stage Jonathan Larson's Pulitzer winning musical Rent this summer, has revealed that Chris McCarrell (The Lightning Thief, Les Misérables) will play Roger in their all-star summer production of the Pulitzer winner.
Running June 25–July 12, Chip Miller will direct and choreograph the musical about a found family of artists in the bohemian New York underworld of the 1990s.
The Cape Playhouse production will also star the previously announced Jordan Barrow (Wicked) as Benny, Ashley Blanchet (Frozen) as Maureen, Tsilala Brock (Suffs) as Joanne, Terrance L. Johnson (Rent) as Collins, Dillon Klena (Jagged Little Pill) as Mark, Storm Lever (Six) as Mimi, and Frankie Rodriguez (High School Musical: The Musical: The Series) as Angel.
The production will also feature Gabe Cruz, Sarah Kleist, Olivia London, Jon Rodez, and Beda Spindola.
The Cape Playhouse production will feature sets by Britton Mauk, costumes by Nia Safarr Banks, lights by Kat C. Zhou, original concept/additional lyrics by Billy Aronson, music supervision/additional lyrics by Tim Weil, music director Tom Vendafreddo, musical arrangements by Steve Skinner, and casting by Stephanie Klapper.
Eitan Markowitz will be the stage manager with Emily Kluger as the assistant stage manager.
