Hell's Kitchen actor Jessica Vosk has announced that she needs to take a three-week leave of absence from the Alicia Keys musical on Broadway at the Shubert. Vosk will be out of the show June 16-July 8. She currently plays Jersey, mother of rebellious teenager Ali; the role will be filled by Kelsee Kimmel and Nyseli Vega in the meantime.

Last summer, Vosk suffered a back injury during a show that led to one of the disks in her vertebrae breaking. Vosk had surgery last August to remove the broken disk, but , she said she'd been suffering back pain since February鈥攚hich has led her to call out of shows. Vosk will now take time off in order to have a revision surgery to fix the herniated disk in her back.

"Please come this weekend to give me a proper send off because I鈥檓 feeling real anxious and vulnerable about it. What we do is really hard, and I鈥檝e been trying to muscle through this since February and get epidurals and nerve blockers and acupuncture and PT," said Vosk. "I鈥檓 so grateful for everyone at Hell鈥檚 Kitchen鈥鈥檓 trying to be superwoman and I have to admit that I鈥檓 not.鈥

Vosk also gave a shout-out to Megan Hilty, who this week announced she had to take time off from Death Becomes Her to recover from a vocal injury. From Vosk to Hilty: "Would you like to go on a movie date together?"

I have a hard time admitting that I need help, but I鈥檓 at that point right now鈥攁s much as I want to be performing in Hells Kitchen nightly, my back has finally given me the red light. I鈥檝e been pushing through since February, missing shows due to pain, and trying everything I can to make the situation work. My castmates have been angels on earth, understanding every aspect and all my funny limps. The entire team at HK has given me more grace than I could expect. We try very hard to mask our pain, then we rarely admit how hard it is to make everything seem seamless and perfect in showbiz.

The great news is that I will feel better, something I have hoped for over the past year. 24/7 pain is no joke. To the chronic sufferers, I鈥檓 so sorry. The thing that I am most ready for is to be able to sleep again. Even better, I will be back July 8, and I do NOT have a final date for you yet! Rest assured you still have time to catch me! I love you very much and I am very grateful for every bit of support you鈥檝e thrown my way. I might just need a little bit more over the next couple of weeks. PS: would you like to go on a movie date together?
