T. Fellowship, in association with Columbia University School of the Arts, has announced the next T. Fellow. Producer Christopher Maring will receive a stipend of $10,000 and a $20,000 budget towards the development of a new musical.
Maring will be mentored by Harold Prince, Margo Lion, Gregory Mosher, Tom Schumacher, Jeffrey Seller and David Stone.
鈥淐hristopher Maring is bright, creative, and a do-er. We anticipate a first-rate and courageous new musical from him,鈥� commented Prince in a press statement.
The T. Fellowship was established to honor the legacy of Broadway producer T. Edward Hambleton by supporting and developing a new generation of theatrical producers. Fellows take classes, work alongside professionals and are given the opportunity to produce a new work.
A graduate of Georgetown University, Maring recently founded CM Stage Productions, a production company that develops, produces and manages new musicals. The move to start his own company follows nine years in the office of award-winning producers Tom Hulce and Ira Pittelman. During that time, he worked on the original Tony-winning production of Spring Awakening, American Idiot and the re-imagined On A Clear Day You Can See Forever, among others. Independently, he helped develop and produce Futurity, a new musical by C茅sar Alvarez and Brooklyn-based band The Lisps; as well as the twice-extended Off-Broadway hit Hadestown, based on the album by singer-songwriter Ana茂s Mitchell.
The T. Fellowship will be accepting new applications January 16-March 31, 2017.
