The Off-Broadway league has appointed Joey Monda as the newest president of the organization, which fosters theatrical productions produced in Off-Broadway theatres and serves as a collective voice for the Off-Broadway industry.
Monda succeeds Casey York in the role, whose leadership guided the League through the last four years of recovery and expansion. Monda previously joined the Off-Broadway League's Board of Directors in 2021, and recently led the organization through collective bargaining negotiations with Actors鈥 Equity Association and the Society of Directors and Choreographers. With the new role, Monda seeks to prioritize increased visibility and advocacy for the Off-Broadway community and member support for Off-Broadway League members.
鈥淥ff-Broadway has always been the center of boundary-breaking work and where artists are empowered to take big risks and share stories that shape the entertainment industry. I look forward to working with our community to amplify our work and impact," said Monda in a statement.
In addition to Monda, the Off-Broadway League has also appointed four new executive officers, with Pamela Adams as 1st vice-president, Beth Dembrow as 2nd vice president, Steven Chaikelson as treasurer, and Dean Carpenter as secretary.
Four new board members have also been selected: Live Wire Theatrical's general manager Chris Aniello, Classic Stage Company's general manager Kathryn McCumber, MCC Theater's associate general manager Brendan McNamara, and Playwrights Horizons' general manager Noah Silva. They join existing board members Jeremy Adams, Alana Canty-Samuel, Katharine Croke, Emily Currie, C茅line Delcayre, Roger Gindi, Nancy Hurvitz, Jessica R. Jenen, Alma Malabanan-McGrath, Casey McDermott, Kenneth Naanep, Kyle Provost, Catherine Russell, and Jonathan Whitton.
Founded in 1959, the Off-Broadway League was founded to foster theatrical productions produced in Off-Broadway theatres, to assist in the exchange of information among its members, and to serve as a collective voice of its membership in pursuit of these goals. Its members include both commercial Off-Broadway producers and general managers, as well as Off-Broadway鈥檚 many not-for-profit theatre companies.
