Lincoln Center Theater celebrated its 40th anniversary May 19 with a Ruby Jubilee Gala at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, with the evening including a performance boasting songs from past LCT shows sung by a starry list of Broadway favorites. Go inside the special evening in the photo gallery below.
The event also marked the departure of Artistic Director Andr茅 Bishop, who is leaving his role at the end of this season, capping off a 33-year tenure. Lear deBessonet will succeed Bishop, with Bartlett Sher joining in the new role of executive producer.
The performance was held on the set of Floyd Collins, the Adam Guettel-Tina Landau musical currently making its long-awaited Broadway debut at the Beaumont via Lincoln Center Theater, and Bishop's final production as artistic director. The company's LCT3 is presenting the world premiere of Caitlin Saylor Stephens' Five Models in Ruins, 1981 in the Off-Broadway Claire Tow Theater through June 1.
A newly released video shows the sitzprobe orchestra rehearsal for the U.K. premiere of Sondheim's final musical, currently playing London's National Theatre.
