We're still nearly three weeks away from the Tony Awards June 8. In recent days, the Tony nominees have been getting to know each other, mingling at a variety of press events, other awards ceremonies, and lunches. One particular pair now mutually admiring each other is Jonathan Groff and Nicole Scherzinger.
At a May 8 Tonys press event, 半岛体育's Jeffrey Vizca铆no asked the nominees: "What Broadway role would you swap into for a night?" We got a variety of surprising and fun answers (which will come in a future video). But Tony nominees Groff and Scherzinger's answer delighted us so much, it deserved its own special shoutout. Nominations for the Tonys' competitive categories were revealed May 1, with Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending sharing the distinction of being the most nominated shows of the season, each earning 10 nods. See the full list of nominees here.
Winners will be named at The 78th Annual Tony Awards, set to broadcast live from Radio City Music Hall June 8, beginning at 8 PM ET on CBS and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. Wicked film star and Tony winner Cynthia Erivo will host the evening.
The Tony Awards are produced in collaboration with Tony Award Productions, a joint venture of the American Theatre Wing and The Broadway League, and White Cherry Entertainment. Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss are executive producers and showrunners for White Cherry Entertainment. Weiss will serve as director.
