Off-Broadway News A Strange Loop's John-Andrew Morrison Will Star in Off-Broadway Revival of Medea of the Laundromat

Arthur Adair will direct H.M. Koutoukas' 1965 seminal work.

La MaMa, in association with the Lucille Lortel Theatre, will present a revival of H.M. Koutoukas' 1965 seminal work, Medea of the Laundromat, next month.

Directed by Arthur Adairperformances are scheduled for June 12鈥�22 at La MaMa鈥檚 The Club.

Tony nominee John-Andrew Morrison (A Strange Loop) will star in the title role of Medea, joined by Jason Howard and Jenne Vath, fellow members of The Experimentals, a performance group founded by late La MaMa Resident Director George Ferencz in 1999.

Medea of the Laundromat is described as an ancient Greek tragedy set in a laundromat that unfolds in a 1960s coffeehouse.

Medea of the Laundromat and the work of Koutoukas gave birth to the Off-Off-Broadway theatre movement and helped establish 鈥渃amp鈥� as an enduring genre. The year after the play's debut, Koutoukas received an Obie Award for 鈥淎ssaulting Established Tradition.鈥�

The production will also have scenic design by Adair and Federico Restrepo, costume design by Sally Lesser, lighting design by Restrepo, sound design by Adair, production stage management by Dakota Silvey, and wardrobe by Victoria Villier.
