Nominations for the 2025 Off Broadway Alliance Awards, recognizing the best in Off-Broadway theatre, were revealed May 7. Along with several competitive categories, the Alliance has announced that it will posthumously induct William Finn, Morgan Jenness, and Linda Lavin into the Off Broadway Hall of Fame.
Additionally, David Greenspan and Scott Morfee will receive Legend of Off-Broadway Awards for their long careers of work. New Yorker theatre critic Helen Shaw will receive the Friend of Off-Broadway Award.
The Alliance's award categories mostly cover productions, so no one show is leading with multiple nods. Up for Best Musical are Keen Company's All The World's a Stage, DRAG: The Musical, Forbidden Broadway Merrily We Stole a Song, Music City, and The Big Gay Jamboree. Best Play nominations went to Becoming Eve, Here There Are Blueberries, Table 17, The Light and the Dark, and The Welkin.
For revivals, the Alliance groups plays and musicals together, with Cats: "The Jellicle Ball," Ceremonies in Dark Old Men, Ghosts, Hold On to Me Darling, and Orlando earning recognition.
