Barrington Stage Company has revealed additional casting and creative team information for its 2025 season, which will bring a golden age musical recently revived on Broadway, several plays, and two world premiere productions to the Massachusetts venue.
Ken Wulf Clarke, Ali Ewoldt, and Emmett O鈥橦anlon will lead a new production of Lerner and Loewe鈥檚 musical Camelot, running June 25-July 19. Directed by Barrington Artistic Director Alan Paul, the production will be based on his 2018 staging of the musical for Shakespeare Theatre Company, which also starred Clarke. Barrington is presenting the musical by special arrangement with Music Theatre International. Clarke, Ewoldt, and O鈥橦anlon will lead as King Arthur, Guenevere, and Lancelot, respectively. They will be joined by Danny Kornfeld as Mordred, and Dakin Matthews as Merlyn/King Pellinore. Rounding out the cast will be Kate Bailey, Marquise Hitchcock, Jaiden Jones, Helen Krushinski, Noah Ruebeck, Michel Vasquez, Natalie Welch, and Zach Williams, with swings Elijah V. Ramos and Maya Santiago.
The production will feature music direction by Darren R. Cohen, choreography by Brandon Bieber (recreating original choreography by Michele Lynch), scenic design by Lee Savage, original costume design by Ana Kuzmani膰 recreated by Lia Wallfish, lighting design by Christopher Akerlind, sound design by Ken Travis, assistant sound design by Irene Wang, associate music direction by Joseph Ivan, and dialect coaching by Amanda Quaid. Jason Brouillard will serve as production stage manager alongside assistant stage manager Robert Cott.
Casting has also been revealed for the regional premiere of Daniel Goldstein鈥檚 biographical tribute play for the late Joan Rivers, Joan, running July 31-August 17. David Ivers will direct the production, starring Tessa Auberjonois as Joan/Mrs. Molinsky, Elinor Gunn as Melissa/Young Joan, Zachary Prince as Jimmy/Blake/Harold/Chet/Others, and Andrew Borba as Dr. Molinsky/Edgar Rosenberg/Johnny Carson/Others.
The production will feature scenic design by Wilson Chin, costume design by Kish Finnegan, lighting design by Philip Rosenberg, sound design by Beth Lake, and associate sound design by Eric Backus. Matthew Meeks will serve as production stage manager alongside assistant stage manager Merit Glover.
The world premiere of new musical fuzzy, running July 8-July 27, will star John Cariani as The Human, Cass Morgan as The Actress, and Teddy Yudain as The Puppeteer. They will be joined by Shraman Ghosh as The Pianist, Ben Clark as The Guitarist, and Carl Carter as The Bassist. The puppet musical has a book and lyrics by Jeff Talbott and music and lyrics by Will Van Dyke.
Ellie Heyman will direct the production, featuring music direction by Patrick Sulken, scenic design by Raphael Mishler, costume design by Johanna Pan, lighting design by David Lander, sound design by Jason Crystal, and puppet design by Amanda Villalobos. Leslie Sears will serve as production stage manager alongside assistant stage manager Aurora Courcy.
Gregory Perri will reprise his Off-Broadway role in the Barrington production of Pulitzer Prize finalist Rajiv Joseph's play King James. Perri will once again play Matt, alongside Black Morris as Shawn, in the comedy about basketball, fandom, and friendship. The co-production with TheaterWorks Hartford and Round House Theater will be directed by TheaterWorks Artistic Director Rob Ruggiero.
The production will feature scenic design by Luke Cantarella, costume design by Danielle Preston, lighting design by John Lasiter, and sound design by Kevin Lee Alexander. Jason Brouillard will serve as production stage manager.
Barrington Stage Company has also revealed an additional play for the season: The Weekend by Ben Diskant, which will run September 16-October 12. Paul will direct the play about fresh perspectives, missed opportunities, and finding the courage to move forward again. Casting and creative team information will be announced in the coming weeks.
