Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Martyna Majok and Broadway actor Bobby Conte are engaged. The couple revealed the happy with photos of the proposal in a joint Instagram post.
In their Instagram post, Marjok wrote a heartfelt caption with anecdotes from the special day, sharing how Conte brought the pair to the Brooklyn Waterfront, where he surprised Marjok on one knee. "Everything with this man has made life fuller and brighter and has expanded my capacity for wonder," she wrote.
Conte wrote his own note at the bottom, stating: "My most beautiful and extraordinary woman鈥攜ou鈥檙e my purpose. I dedicate my life to making you feel safe and cared for. I鈥檓 not walking out the door, and I love your much so much. Thank you for loving mine too. And trusting me as the man you want to build a life with. From our first night together, that鈥檚 all I鈥檝e wished for."
Majok has penned a number of plays, including Sanctuary City and Cost of Living, for which she received the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Drama and the 2023 Tony Award nomination for Best Play. Her play Queens will be produced at Manhattan Theatre Club's Off-Broadway space in the fall.
Conte has starred in three Broadway shows, first originating the role of Calogero in A Bronx Tale. He also played PJ in the 2021 Tony Award-winning revival of Stephen Sondheim's Company, and Cousin Kevin in the 2024 revival of The Who's Tommy.
