Manhattan Theatre Club has found casting for their upcoming season, which includes a Broadway run of James Graham's Punch and the Off-Broadway premiere of Ngozi Anyanwu's The Monsters as previously announced, the latter a co-production with New Jersey's Two River Theatre.
Starring in Punch, which comes to Broadway's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning September 9 ahead of a September 29 opening night, will be Will Harrison (A Complete Unknown), making his Broadway debut as Jacob. The cast will also include Camila Can贸-Flavi谩 as Clare and Nicola, Sam Robards as David, and Lucy Taylor as Mum and Wendy. Additional casting is to be announced.
Based on Jacob Dunne鈥檚 memoir Right From Wrong, Punch traces Dunne鈥檚 journey in restorative justice after one impulsive punch led to fatal consequences. After spending more than a year in prison, he connected with the victim's parents, sparking a profound transformation. The work premiered last year at Nottingham Playhouse and later played London鈥檚 Young Vic. Penford is returning to direct the Broadway bow after staging both U.K. runs. The Broadway production, which will run concurrently with a West End run at the Apollo Theatre, will be presented in association with Nottingham Playhouse, where Penford serves as artistic director.
At the company's Off-Broadway space at New York City Center, Anyanwy's The Monsters will begin January 23, 2026 ahead of a February 11 opening night, with Anyanwu also directing. The cast will feature Aigner Mizzelle (Chicken & Biscuits) as LIL and Okieriete Onaodowan (Hamilton) as BIG. The work follows two siblings who reunite after years apart and wrestle with their pasts.
Also on MTC's upcoming slate is a reimagining of Martyna Majok's Queens, set to play Off-Broadway in a new production directed by Trip Cullman this fall; and a Broadway world premiere for David Lindsay-Abaire's The Balusters, playing the Friedman in spring 2026 with Kenny Leon at the helm. Additional productions and casting are to be announced.
