"Bringing The Normal Heart to the Pride Plays stage alongside a slate of bold new works is a powerful reminder of our lineage,鈥 say Pride Plays producers Sam Gravitte, Sammy Lopez, and Ibi Owolabi; and original founders Michael Urie, Doug Nevin, and Nick Mayo in a joint statement. 鈥淟arry Kramer鈥檚 words ignited a movement, and at a time when queer rights are once again under attack, his work reminds us of what鈥檚 at stake. Uplifting this landmark play in conversation with the next generation of queer stories is exactly what Pride Plays was built for: to honor where we鈥檝e been while demanding the futures we deserve."
A New York Pride Plays festival, being presented in association with Rattlestick Theater, will be held June 23, with programming to be announced.
