Per social media host Jennifer Mercedes for ChicaDeportes, Lin-Manuel Miranda's next project is already on the horizon.
The immensely popular multi-hyphenate stopped to chat with Mercedes at the Hispanic Federation Gala earlier this week, and , he told Mercedes about a new project he has in the pipeline, centering on his family's hometown heroes.
"I'll tell you something I'm working on: the Molina brothers, who are from my dad's hometown of Vega Alta, Puerto Rico. Vega Alta is home to, like, an appalling number of Major League Baseball players... It's really incredible. So to be able to honor that in a movie is something we're really actively trying to do."
The three Molina brothers (Jos茅, Bengie, and Yadier) were high-profile catchers in 2000's Major League Baseball, known for their distinctly defensive strategy that led all three brothers to significant professional success. At various times alumni of the New York Yankees, the Chicago Cubs, the Anaheim Angels, the St. Louis Cardinals, and more, the Molina brothers are the only three brothers in MLB history to all win World Series rings.
Information on the film's development timeline is not yet available, including the extent of Miranda's direct involvement in the project. Miranda continues to juggle a multitude of projects, from The Warriors musical to his role as Hermes in the television adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
